CHARLESTON, SC - The Hickory Crawdads All-Star representatives helped pace the Northern Division to the 3-2 win against the Southern Division in the 2012 SAL All-Star Game, before 6,099 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park in Charleston, SC on Tuesday night .

Hickory SS Hanser Alberto, who played the entire game at short, drove in one of the Northern side's runs, while 'Dads RHP Phil Klein and LHP Victor Payano both logged scoreless relief innings. LF Chris Grayson also played the entire game in left field for the North. Hickory's fifth all-star, RHP Nick Martinez, did not pitch because he is slated to start the Crawdads game this Thursday.

The Northern Division struck first in the top of the fifth inning against Rome Braves RHP David Filak (L). Delmarva 1B Nicky Delmonico singled with one away, before Kannapolis C Kevan Smith drove him home with an RBI double one out later, lifting the North to the 1-0 lead.

Alberto and the Northern squad struck again in the top of the seventh inning. Delmonico doubled to start the frame and moved to third on an error on the play. Alberto then ripped an RBI single to center field, plating Delmonico for the 2-0 advantage.

While the Northern All-Stars tacked on their third run in the top of the eighth, Klein and Payano pitched in with scoreless late relief innings. Klein navigated through a hitless bottom of the seventh, striking out a pair of Southern batters. Payano then dealt the scoreless bottom of the eighth, facing the minimum three hitters in the inning.

The Southern Division refused to go down quietly, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth against Hagerstown RHP Aaron Barrett (S), but Barrett and the North were able to hang on for the 3-2 win.
