Northeast League's Fingleson and Lewis to play for gold medal Wednesday

Athens, Greece -- With Australia's 1-0 defeat of Japan in baseball semifinals at the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad, current Northeast League players Gavin Fingleson and Craig Lewis will play in the Gold Medal Game on Wednesday at 8 p.m. local time (1 p.m. EDT) live on MSNBC. They will face Cuba, which beat Canada 8-5.
Fingleson, who was a member of the New Haven County Cutters, was 0-for-4 in the semfinal, but coming into the game he was hitting .379, which tied for eighth at the Olympics, with nine RBI, which ranked second at the Games.
Lewis, who played for the Brockton Rox, has seen time both at the plate and on the mound. He is hitting .222 with three runs scored in six games, while posting a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 2.70 in two outings. In 3 1/3 innings, Lewis allowed three hits, one run and struck out two.
