New Haven County rode a decent pitching performance by Ryan Bonesio to a win in the first game of the doubleheader, breaking their four-game losing streak. Bonesio pitched six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three for his second win of the season. SS Jose Mateo, DH Jimmy Hurst, and LF Keith Forbes each had two hits for the Cutters, while 3B Shane Hopper hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for Quebec.

Quebec used a late-inning rally to salvage the second game of the twinbill. In what started as a pitchers' duel between New Haven County's Wes Mindingall and the Capitales' Jess Turner, Quebec drew first blood with a solo home run from 2B Sam Bozanich in the bottom of the fifth. The Cutters responded with two in the top of the sixth, but the Capitales regained the lead in a bizarre bottom half of the inning that included four hit batters, believed to be a league record. New Haven had their chances throughout the game, leaving eleven men on base.

Lance Calmus, J.P. Huguet and John Boker combined on a two-hitter as Bangor defeated the Aces 4-1. Calmus pitched a superb first six innings, with a DH Mike Davis sixth-inning RBI triple one of the few blemishes, while Huguet and Boker retired the final nine Aces in order. The Lumberjacks got the scoring out of the way early, with a two-run home run by DH Don Ross in the first inning and RBIs from 2B Rolando Bello and 3B Paul Powell in the second.

ELMIRA 9, BROCKTON 5

Elmira used a rare offensive outburst to beat Brockton 9-5 and take two of three in the series. The Pioneers rapped out fourteen hits, including a 3-for-4 night by DH Yuri Nerei and a 3-for-5, three-RBI evening from 1B Rick Elder. The Rox took a 4-2 lead after a busy first inning, scoring on a three-run shot from 2B Mike Torres and an RBI single from RF Aaron Fera, but Elmira responded with two in the third on RBI singles from 3B Dennis Abreu and Elder, and then added three more in the fourth. Single insurance runs in the eighth and ninth put the game away for the Pioneers, and Robbie Morrison was awarded his first save after pitching three innings of effective relief.

North Shore moved into a tie with Brockton in the North Division race with a 6-2 win over New Jersey, completing the series sweep. Jeremy Sugarman got his league-leading seventh win of the season, allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out six in 8 1/3 innings. 2B Marcos Agramonte went 3-for-4 with two doubles for North Shore, while 3B Nilson Teilon and 1B Vic Davilla had two hits apiece. RF Kevin Grijak went 2-for-4 with a double for New Jersey.
