
North Shore's Jeremy Sugarman named Northeast League Player of the Month

Durham, N.C. -- North Shore's Jeremy Sugarman was selected by SportsTicker as the Rawlings Player of the Month for June. He is the first Northeast League player to earn the award this season and will receive a mitt courtesy of Rawlings Sporting Goods.
Sugarman, who is in his second year with the Spirit, won all six of his starts in June to up his record to 7-0 and his career record to 13-1. In those six starts, he tossed two complete games and allowed 11 runs, 10 earned, for a 2.13 earned run average. In addition, he struck out 29 in 42 1/3 innings and walked 11 for North Shore, which now sits atop the North Division with a 23-10 mark.
Aside from leading the league in wins, Sugarman is second in complete games (2), fifth in strikeouts (33) and seventh in ERA (2.57). In 17 career starts, he has never given up more than four runs in a game.
