North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC - North Carolina FC returns to WakeMed Soccer Park to host the Richmond Kickers on Wednesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. ET. Wednesday's match marks the third meeting between the two sides, with the season series currently deadlocked at 1-1. Tickets are available here, and the match will be available to stream on ESPN+.

Last Time Out

North Carolina FC fell 2-1 to South Georgia Tormenta FC on the road last Saturday, the contest result being decided in the final minutes of the match. Kazaiah Sterling recorded a brace for the Georgia side, as Tormenta came away with three points. Jaden Servania scored the lone goal for NCFC, with Shak Adams logging the assist - his first with the club.

Tormenta opened the scoring during the match, following the awarding of a penalty kick in the 27th minute. Sterling stepped up to take the kick, converting the attempt and scoring his fourth goal of the season to give the Ibises a 1-0 edge. The 1-0 scoreline held through the remainder of the half, despite the North Carolina side generating several chances at an equalizer. Among these chances was an opportunity from Cole Frame that saw a driven shot taken from just outside the eighteen narrowly miss the lower 90 in the 33rd minute.

Finally finding the equalizer in the 79th minute, Adams catalyzed the scoring play, taking the ball in stride down the left flank to beat his defender and cross the ball at the endline. Mishit by a Tormenta defender, the service was redirected into the path of Servania, who capitalized on the opportunity with a one-touch shot to collect his third goal of the season and level the score at 1-1. Tormenta responded just two minutes later when Sterling tallied his second of the night, the goal being the edge the Ibises needed to secure three points.

Players to Watch

North Carolina FC - #12 Shak Adams

Recording his first assist with the club in their most recent competition against South Georgia Tormenta FC, Adams proved what he can bring to the table in last Saturday's match, catalyzing the equalizer and nearly scoring a second goal. The forward brings impeccable technical skill and speed on the ball, and boasts precise passing ability that allows NCFC an opportunity at a quick counterattack. As the North Carolina side looks to earn three points in front of their home crowd, Adams will play a vital role in generating scoring chances for both himself and his teammates as they face one of the league's strongest sides.

Richmond Kickers - #9 Matthew Bentley

Bentley scored a goal in Richmond's 3-1 loss to Greenville Triumph SC on July 16, his fifth for the Kickers. The forward has recorded 15 appearances for a total of 825 minutes of playing time this season, registering 10 shots on target and 52.6% shooting accuracy, a force to be reckoned with on the Kickers' offense. On the heels of a loss against Central Valley Fuego, Bentley will look to lead the charge on the attack as the Kickers strive to claim three points against one of their regional foes and return to their winning ways.

Up Next: North Carolina FC will travel to face FC Tucson for the second time this season on Saturday, July 30 at 10 p.m. ET at Kino North Stadium in Tucson, AZ. The match will be available to stream live on ESPN+.
