North Carolina FC News Release
LEXINGTON, Ky. - North Carolina FC defeated Lexington SC, 1-0, Saturday night at Toyota Stadium. NCFC went 2-0-1 against the expansion side this season and improve to 18-7-6 for 60 points. Should Northern Colorado draw or lose Saturday night, NCFC will clinch a first round bye and at least two-seed in the 2023 post-season.
Oalex Anderson capitalized on a defensive third turnover by Lexington midway through the first half and scored his 16th goal of the year, remaining in second place in the Golden Boot race. The chippy affair saw both sides get several bookings down the stretch, totaling 10 for the night, as NCFC held on for the clean sheet and three critical points.
A win next Saturday will clinch a first round bye while a win, combined with a draw or loss by Union Omaha would clinch a regular season championship. North Carolina FC hosts One Knoxville on Saturday, October 14, for a 7:00 p.m. ET kickoff at WakeMed Soccer Park. The match will stream live on ESPN+.
