St. Cloud Norsemen News Release

St. Cloud Norsemen and Wayzata High School goaltender Will Ingemann announced today via his social media his commitment to the University of St. Thomas.

Ingemann appeared in six games for the Norsemen at the beginning of the season with a record of 3-1-0-1 with a 2.24 goals against average, a .903 save percentage and two shutouts. His last game with the Norsemen was on November 4th because he has rejoined his Wayzata High School Trojans squad for his senior season. Ingemann has appeared in all but one game for Wayzata and has a 12-4-2 record with a 1.41 gaa, .942 sv% and three shutouts. Will is a big reason why the Trojans are currently ranked 3rd in the latest MN Boys Hockey Hub rankings among the Class 2A teams.

St. Cloud Assistant Coach Brock Kautz has been keeping a watchful eye on Ingemann's progression throughout his high school season and has been impressed. "He's been awesome this year with Wayzata and I think that's a key reason why that team is having success. His stats are good, he's winning games and he's shutting the door down," compliments Kautz. "It speaks highly of his ability to play and I think he's very talented and he works his butt off on and off the ice. I'm not surprised at all for him getting rewarded for what he's done."

Kautz may be the perfect person to speak on Ingemann's situation, as it's very similar to his own. Kautz hails from Rochester, MN and got to play his college hockey at an in-state program with the University of Minnesota. While Ingemann plays for Wayzata he hails from Plymouth, MN which is a mere 20 minutes from the University of St. Thomas campus in St. Paul, MN. "I'm sure that's a big deal for him and his family; obviously it's close and they'll get to go to every home game and watch him play," Kautz points out. "It's super exciting for him and it's a great opportunity. Obviously they've got some things moving forward there at St. Thomas and they're getting a lot of kids to commit. We're super happy and excited for his future."

The University of St. Thomas men's hockey team is in their second season at the Division I level and are coached by Rico Blasi. He'll also join Norsemen teammate Chase Cheslock there, who is also back with his high school team competing for Rogers High School.

Ingemann's Trojans are next in action Thursday, February 2nd, hosting Minnetonka High School.
