Norsemen Forward Lajoie Commits to Alaska-Anchorage

St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud Norsemen forward Brandon Lajoie has made his NCAA Division I commitment to the University of Alaska-Anchorage, which returns to the ice for the 2022-23 season.

Lajoie, a 2001-born native of Eagle River, Alaska, will be playing his college hockey close to home. Lajoie has played in 156 games in the North American Hockey League, scoring 67 points on 36 goals and 31 assists. Lajoie is tied for the team-lead in goals for St. Cloud this season with 9 and is fifth on the team in scoring with 13 points.

"When they announced that UAA was coming back, for me there was nothing better than playing 15 minutes away from your home for college hockey," said Lajoie.

"Just excited for the next chapter," Lajoie added. "There's a lot of history with the program, so to be part of bringing it back to hopefully its glory days is awesome."

"It's a perfect match," said Norsemen head coach Corey Millen. "He's an Alaska kid who loves the program and they need to get quality kids together to rebuild their program and he's a perfect fit. It's great for both the program and for Brandon. He's played a lot of games in this league and it's proof that hard work and commitment pays off."

Lajoie and the Norsemen (11-9-0) are back in action this weekend both at home and on the road, beginning with a trip to Cloquet, MN to take on the Minnesota Wilderness on Friday at 7:15 p.m. The Norsemen are back in St. Cloud at the Municipal Athletic Complex on Saturday night for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with the Wilderness.
