Green Bay Rockers News Release

Kenosha, WI. - Green Bay Bullfrogs (17-32, 5-8) starting right-handed pitcher Cody Norman tossed seven shut-out innings with only two hits allowed and three strikeouts, leading the Frogs to an intense 1-0 victory over the host Kenosha Kingfish (23-24, 10-3) at Simmons Field Tuesday evening. The Kingfish were held scoreless for only the second time this season and first since June 6.

The Bullfrogs scratched across the lone run of the contest in the top of the fifth inning to grab the 1-0 lead. Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) laced a one-out double to get the bats started, setting up the go-ahead RBI single by Andre Antone (Freshman, UC Irvine) to put Green Bay in front.

Kenosha had the tying run at third base with two outs in the eighth inning, but Ryan Gowens (Senior, Univ. of Arizona) forced the ground out to third base to end the frame. The Kingfish again had the tying run in scoring position in the ninth; however, David Toth (Freshman, Hillsdale College) recorded three strikeouts in the inning to hold on for the save.

Maris and Luke Robinson (Sophomore, Western Carolina) each finished 1-for-4 at the plate. Antone and Keaton Smith (Junior, Univ. of Nevada) both went 1-for-3.

Norman earned the win on the mound after his terrific outing, improving to 1-1. Norman did not allow a Kingfish for the remainder of his start after the third inning. Kenosha starter Joe Vranesic took the loss, falling to 2-3. Toth earns his first save of the season.

Both teams return to action tomorrow night, concluding the two-game series for the Bullfrogs final game in Kenosha this summer. First pitch is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start at Simmons Field.
