NORFOLK, Va - The Norfolk Tides (13-27 | 41-74) fell to the Gwinnett Stripers (21-21 | 59-57), 3-2, in 11 innings on Thursday at Harbor Park. After winning the first two games of the series, including a 10-inning game last night, Norfolk dropped their first game of the series today.

Norfolk's pitching was strong all game. The lone two runs allowed in regulation were against the Tides' starter Juaron Watts-Brown in the third inning. The bullpen would follow with 7.0 innings of relief without allowing an earned run, striking out a combined 16 batters.

The Tides struck first on an RBI single by Bryan Ramos in the second inning. After trailing 2-1 into the fifth, Heston Kjerstad blasted a solo home run. It was his 10th of the season. Kjerstad replaced Reed Trimble today after an injury, and would go on to have a 2-for-3 day.

Neither team scored in the 10th inning when the game went to extras. In the 11th, Gwinnett would scratch across a run and then hold Norfolk in the bottom-half, handing the Tides their first loss of the series.
