Drew Dosch plated Chris Johnson with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th inning, powering Norfolk to a 4-3 comeback win over the Durham Bulls Friday night at Harbor Park.
With the score knotted at 3-3 in the 10th, Chris Johnson ignited the game-winning rally with a leadoff double off of former Tide Chaz Roe (0-2). That set the stage for Dosch, who lined a 2-1 pitch to the base of the right field wall, easily scoring Johnson and giving Norfolk its 10th walk-off win of the season.
Dosch doubled twice in the contest, moving him into a tie for the International League lead with 28 doubles this season. He's now hit safely in seven of his last eight games, over which he's batted .387 (12-31) with six doubles and five runs batted in.
The Tides had trailed the contest 3-0 before rallying with three straight runs to tie the game. Norfolk used solo home runs from Mike Yastrzemski and Chance Sisco to pull within a run before a Logan Schafer RBI single in the seventh inning knotted the score at 3-3.
Stefan Crichton (5-0) earned the win by recording the final out of the 10th inning, as Norfolk's bullpen turned in 2.1 shutout innings of relief.
Norfolk starter Alec Asher turned in his second straight Quality Start, as he allowed three runs on eight hits over 6.2 innings of work. He walked one and matched his season-high with six strikeouts, throwing 66 of his 101 pitches for strikes. Asher now owns a 3.05 ERA in seven starts with the Tides this season and has yet to allow more than three earned runs in a game.
With the win, Norfolk has now won six of its last eight games and 11 of its last 15.
The two teams will continue their three-game set on Saturday night at Harbor Park, with first pitch set for 7:05. Saturday is Navy Night at Harbor Park, with the Tides honoring the brave men and women that serve in the U.S. Navy. Active duty and retired United States Navy personnel as well as dependents can show their ID at the Harbor Park box office to get discounted box and reserved seat tickets. There will also be a postgame fireworks show, presented by Navy Mutual
