Norfolk Tides News Release

Zach Britton pitched into the eighth inning and Michael Aubrey homered twice to lead Norfolk to a 4-0 win Saturday night.

Britton (1-1) was brilliant in earning his first Triple-A victory, as he struck out three and walked one in 7.1 innings of work. The 22-year-old southpaw, who was making his first appearance since throwing a scoreless inning in the MLB Futures Game on Sunday, limited Columbus to just five hits in the outing. The Clippers had entered the contest as the top-hitting team in the IL with a .289 team batting average.

Over his last 10 starts between Double-A Bowie and Norfolk, Britton is now 6-1 with a 1.11 ERA (8-ER, 64.2-IP).

Armando Gabino came on in relief of Britton in the eight inning and recorded the final five outs to register his second save of the season.

The Tides got all the run support they would need in the first inning, as Robert Andino launched a solo homer off of Clippers starter Josh Tomlin (8-4). Aubrey followed with a solo blast to lead off the second, then clubbed another solo shot to lead off the fourth inning that extended Norfolk's lead to 4-0.

Andino finished with three hits for Norfolk, which has now won four of its last six home games to improve to 27-24 at Harbor Park this season.

Josh Rodriguez and Cord Phelps each had two hits apiece to lead the Clippers offense.

The two clubs will wrap up their season series on Sunday night, with first pitch scheduled for 6:15. Zach Clark (0-4, 5.06) will take the hill for the Tides against left-hander David Huff (3-0, 4.15).
