The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the six nominees for the ‘CHL Performance of the Year' which will be determined 100% through online voting at www.centralhockeyleague.com.

The candidates range from outstanding individual performances to unbelievable comebacks to great team efforts. Throughout the regular season, over 50,000 fans have voted anointing the CHL Performance of the Week. Of these 23 candidates, six have been selected as finalists for this year's top performance.

The nominees are:

-The Austin Ice Bats tying a CHL record with three shorthanded goals in one game on October 26th in a 5-2 win versus the New Mexico Scorpions. Zach Klann, Henry Kuster and Jason Tessier scored the man-down markers for the Ice Bats.

-The New Mexico Scorpions scoring 10 goals (tying a 2007-08 season high) in their 10-3 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on December 15th. New Mexico took a commanding lead in the game scoring three goals in the first six minutes and leading 7-0 after one period. Konrad Reeder had six helpers and Craig Macdonald notched a hat trick.

-The Rocky Mountain Rage erasing a 5-0 deficit in the third period of their 6-5 shootout win at home over the Tulsa Oilers on December 29th. Colt King started the comeback with a goal just 19 seconds into the third period and the game-tying goal came off the stick of King with just over a minute and a half remaining. Trevor Weisgerber scored the game winner in the shootout.

-Bossier-Shreveport goaltender John DeCaro recording his CHL record-setting 10th shutout of the season on February 16th in a 3-0 win versus Austin. DeCaro finished the season with a 27-6-3 record and broke CHL single-season records with a 1.63 GAA, a .941 save percentage and his final total of 11 shutouts.

-Oklahoma City Head Coach Doug Sauter coaching the Blazers to his 500th win with the team on February 23rd at Tulsa. The longtime coach of the Blazers is just the fifth professional North American coach to win 500 games with the same team and just the second minor pro coach to reach the milestone.

-The Arizona Sundogs coming back from a 5-0 deficit with less than 15 minutes remaining in the third period en route to their 7-6 overtime win On March 19th. The comeback was the largest in CHL history by a team to eventually win the game. Arizona trailed by three goals with 1:23 remaining but a pair of goals from Cory Urquhart and a goal from Chris Bartolone pushed the game to overtime where Alex Leavitt scored the game winner.

Voting will take place from April 1st through April 15th with the winner announced on Wednesday, April 16th.
