Hounds Drop Game Three 4-1

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds fell to the Colorado Eagles 4-1 in game three of the Northern Conference Semifinals. They trail 3-0 in the best-of-seven series. The win for the Eagles marks the first time that a visiting team has won in this match-up since April 4, 2007.

The Eagles struck first as Scott Polaski scored a power play goal from Seth Leonard and Erik Adams at 10:08 of the first period to make it 1-0. Colorado was 2-7 while the Hounds were 1-6 on the power play. At 15:14 Chris Richards scored Youngstown's lone goal from Ryan Bennett and Bryan Lachapelle to make it 1-1 after 20 minutes. The shots were 6-6 after one period.

The lone even strength goal of the game at 2:56 of the second period when Greg Pankewicz put a slap shot past Andy Franck to make it 2-1 Eagles after two periods. The Eagles out shot the Hounds 11-8 for the period.

Riley Nelson scored a power play goal for his first of the playoffs at 7:22 of the third period from Pankewicz and Ed McGrane to make it 3-1. Greg Pankewicz scored his second of the game with a shorthanded, empty net goal from Ed McGrane with 2:03 left to finish the scoring and give the Eagles a 4-1 win. Youngstown out shot the Eagles 11-3 for the third period and 25-20 for the game. Sebastien Laplante made 24 saves for Colorado in the win.

The Hounds are now in the same position as last year down 3-0 going into game four against the Eagles. Game four is Thursday night at 7:05 with $1.00 hot dogs available for all fans.
