No Potros in ULB's immediate future
Published on July 10, 2009 under United League Baseball (ULB) News Release
There will be only one Colts ballclub in the United League Baseball this season - the team located in San Angelo.
It is now official, as reported earlier by some members of the media, that the Tijuana Potros (which is Colts in Spanish) will not enter the ULB at midseason.
Even earlier, it was reported by the Potros and the league that the former Mexican League team would join the ULB. League officials said there were those plans, but that the club could not raise the $500,000 needed to join the ULB.
The Mexican ballclub also was to pay the expenses for the ULB members to travel to Tijuana to play the Potros.
The league is scheduled to expand next season, however, with the inclusion of the new ULB Dallas club. A 10,000-seat stadium, with 24 skyboxes, is being built near downtown Dallas as part of a multi-million dollar project that includes hotels, restaurants and condominiums in the Trinity basin.
