Nneka Ogwumike Named Western Conference Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES - The WNBA announced today that LA Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike was named Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of June 20-June 26. This is her 13th time winning the award, joining Brittney Griner and Sylvia Fowles for the 10th most player of the week honors.
Last week, Ogwumike led the Sparks to a 2-1 record with victories over the Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm, both recent WNBA champions. The Sparks lone loss came against the defending champion Chicago Sky. For the week, Ogwumike averaged 20 points per game, 4.67 rebounds, 2.67 assists, 2.33 steals, and shot 28-for-48 (58.3%) from the field over three games. On June 25, she led the Sparks to an 85-77 road victory over the Storm, scoring 24 points on 12-for-18 shooting.
Last week, Ogwumike was named a 2022 WNBA All-Star starter, earning All-Star honors for the seventh time in her WNBA career. Ogwumike has started and appeared in all 17 Sparks games this season. She is averaging 18.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. She's shooting a blistering 59% from the field and 42.9% on 3-pointers.
