NLL Announces March Player Awards

Buffalo Bandits veteran forward John Tavares was named Overall Player of the Month and Toronto Rock forward Ryan Benesch earned Rookie of the Month honors for the month of March, the National Lacrosse League announced today.

Buffalo Bandits veteran forward John Tavares led the Bandits to a 4-0 record during the month, including wins over Minnesota, New York, Colorado and Chicago. Tavares scored 15 goals and added 16 assists for 31 points, collected 19 loose balls and scored two goals on the power-play. Tavares won both the Overall Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week honors twice in March, capturing both awards in Week #10 and in Week #13.

Toronto Rock forward Ryan Benesch helped the Rock to a 2-2 record in March. The first overall draft pick scored 14 goals and added nine assists for 23 points, scored three power play goals and collected 13 loose balls. Toronto posted wins over Minnesota and Philadelphia during the month. Benesch was named Rookie of the Week twice during March, winning the award in Week #12 and in Week #13.

The Monthly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's thirteen member clubs.
