Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
Michael Nix flirted with perfection for five and a third innings on Friday night in the Skeeters 5-0 win. All in all, he went seven innings, allowed only three hits and struck out five. The Skeeters scored two in the third, thanks to an Adam Godwin sacrifice fly and a Chase Lambin RBI single to take a 2-0 lead. They added another run in the fourth from a Ramos sacrifice fly, to put them up 3-0.
After adding solo runs in the sixth and the eighth, they took a 5-0 lead into the ninth and handed the ball over to Jason Bergmann. Unfortunately for the Bluefish, he was just as good as he has been all year and the Skeeters went on to win 5-0. Skeeters improve their overall record to 23-5 and even the series at two games apiece.
Up Next: The Skeeters are home again on Saturday for a 6:05 p.m. game. Tossing for the Skeeters is LHP Jason Lane (2-0, 3.38 ERA), he is opposed on the mound by Bluefish RHP Josh Butler (2-0, 2.42 ERA). Saturday is Area Emergency Responders Night, sponsored by Behind the Badge Charities.
