Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - American Hockey League training camps get underway on September 26th, and nine players on the Tulsa Oilers roster will be attending camps with three different AHL teams.
Six of the Oilers, Ian Keserich, Ryan Cramer, Dylan Clarke, Luke Lucyk, Gerome Giudice, and Matt Baxter, will head down the Turner Turnpike to take part in the Oklahoma City Barons camp. The Barons are the AHL affiliate for the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League.
In addition, Oilers winger Patrick Levesque is going to camp with the Chicago Wolves, the farm club of the Vancouver Canucks. Forward Ryan Raven will be taking part in camp with the Lake Erie Monsters, which is affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche, and goaltender Mike Spillane is taking his puck-stopping ability to camp with the Springfield Falcons, the farm team of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
"The reason we sign these players to our club is so they have a chance to pursue hockey at a higher level, and we want to push guys toward the next step in their careers," said Oilers head coach Bruce Ramsay. "We want to be known in Tulsa as a place where if you work hard, the opportunity can arise to go to the AAA level."
The Oilers had five players called up to the AHL last season, second among the 14 teams in the CHL.
Tulsa's training camp gets underway on October 10th, and the Oilers play their home opener at 7:35pm on October 28th against the Wichita Thunder at the BOK Center.
Tickets: Season tickets for the Oilers 20th season in the CHL are now on sale. More information is available by calling the Oilers office at (918) 632-PUCK (7825) or by visiting www.tulsaoilers.com.
