
Nigro named to Team Ontario

The Guelph Storm is proud to announce that sixteen year old Anthony Nigro will play for Ontario's Under 17 Team in Whitehorse at the 2007 Canada Winter Games starting in February. Nigro will join assistant coach Jason Brooks for the tournament beginning February 24th thru March 1st.
Team Ontario Director of Operations Mike Futa along with Head Coach Marty Williamson, assistant coaches Jason Brooks and Paul Titanic announced the 20 man roster today. The tournament features four pools comprised of 13 teams. Ten Provinces, the North West Territories, Yukon and Nunavut are the 13 teams who will be competing for the Gold medal. Based on the 2003 Canada Winter Games rankings Team Ontario is seeded third and is in Pool C that also consists of Team Manitoba and Team PEI.
Last year Storm defenceman Drew Doughty and assistant coach Jason Brooks placed fifth after beating Team Atlantic 9-1.
Since Manny Malhotra won a gold medal with Team Ontario at the 1997-98 Championships co-hosted by Red Deer, Alberta and Kitchener, Ontario, several Storm players have competed for Ontario's Under -17 team at the World Hockey Challenge and Canada Winter Games.
