Maryland NightHawks News Release

Upper Marlboro, MD. Andrew Haines, Owner of the ABA Maryland NightHawks today announced the signing for former St. Augustine College star Charles Ward. Haines said, "Charles brings a great work ethic and is the type of tough, physical player we are looking for. Any time you can get a guy that has as much pro experience as Charles, it can only benefit the entire organization."

As a standout at St. Augustine College in Raleigh, NC., Charles led the nation in field goal percentage (69.8%) in 2001 and was voted to the CIAA All Tournament Team. He is a versatile player that likes to play above the rim, something that is sure to excite the NightHawks faithful at the Show Palace Arena.

NightHawks Coach "Twiggy" Sanders added, "Charles is an exceptional athlete, capable of playing several positions on the floor very well. He brings a physical presence to or team and might be the most athletic guy out on the court."

Listed to play both small forward and power forward, Charles played for the Harlem Globetrotters and in several pro leagues and has excelled at every level.
