Nighthawks one win away from ABA championship game
March 16, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release
Upper Marlboro, MD. The Maryland Nighthawks of the ABA are one win away from being the first professional basketball team in the Washington DC Metropolitan area to play for a championship in over 20 years. The Nighthawks will host the Bellevue Blackhawks on Tuesday, March 22nd at 7pm at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland in one of two Final Four games. The winner of the Maryland/Bellevue game will play the winner of the Arkansas RimRockers/Mississippi Stingers game. No other professional sports team has accomplished this much in their first year of existence. Both Maryland and Bellevue are first year ABA teams as are Arkansas and Mississippi.
This is truly history in the making. Tom Doyle, Nighthawks owner/CEO stated, "Getting to the semis is one thing; getting to the finals and winning is another. And that's our goal." Michael Tuckman, Blackhawks owner added, "We're not flying across the country to lose. Maryland had better get ready 'cause we are." Nighthawks vs Blackhawks. What could be better than this?

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
