Nighthawks Announce Omaha Sell Out
September 29, 2010 - United Football League (UFL 1)
Omaha Nighthawks News Release
OMAHA, NE - Wednesday, September 29, 2010 - A United Football League sellout streak has been established in Omaha where the hometown hero Nighthawks have sold out all 24,000 seats for the team's second successive home game.
The mouthwatering quarterback showdown between veterans JEFF GARCIA of the Nighthawks (1-0) and DAUNTE CULPEPPER of the Sacramento Mountain Lions (1-1) will kickoff at 7.30pm local time on Saturday, October 2. The 'Rumble at Rosenblatt' will air live on HDNet with KENNY RICE and PAUL MAGUIRE calling the action at 8.30pm EDT following an HDNet pregame show at 8pm EDT.
"The atmosphere in Rosenblatt Stadium last week was electric and the passion and enthusiasm the Omaha fans have for football and for the Nighthawks was evident for all to see," said UFL Commissioner MICHAEL HUYGHUE. "People assured us then that in less than a week the second home game would sell out and they have made true on that promise. The stadium will be rocking again on Saturday night and will make for a great atmosphere and compelling television viewing."
Last week the Nighthawks announced that all 24,000 seats for the team's first ever game had been sold more than 72 hours before kickoff, making the Nighthawks victory over the Hartford Colonials the first sellout in United Football League history.
Garcia led a dramatic game-winning drive, which culminated in his 12-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Robert Ferguson with six seconds remaining to give Omaha a breathtaking 27-26 victory over the Hartford Colonials. His opposite number this weekend, Culpepper directed a come-from-behind 24-20 victory for the Mountain Lions over the Florida Tuskers at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento. He set a new UFL single-game record with 374 passing yards, going 26-for-42 with three touchdowns and one interception. The quarterbacks were named UFL joint Players of Week 2.
The Nighthawks only came into existence on April 15, 2010 when JEFF JAGODZINSKI was named as head coach and the football fans of Omaha first learned that a UFL team would be playing in the city this fall, making the sellout streak an impressive achievement.
Rosenblatt Stadium offers limited parking, so the Nighthawks are urging fans to car pool or take advantage of public transport and game-specific shuttle services to avoid traffic and parking congestion. Further details of the following available shuttle services will be posted at [1]www.UFL-Football.com/omaha-nighthawks.
The exciting UFL experience that appeals to families and fans of all ages begins at 3pm and stadium gates will open at 5.30pm.
