Nichols Selected Again: Honors Piling up for Wild Goalie

WENATCHEE, Wash. - Honors continued to pile up for Wenatchee Wild goaltender Robert Nichols (Dallas, Texas) Wednesday when he was named to the NAHL's All-Division West team.

The league's coaches and general managers selected the All-Division teams. Others named to the All-Division West team include: forwards Gabe Levin (Fairbanks), Brett Lubanski (Kenai River) and J.T. Osborn (Fairbanks), and defensemen Sean O'Rourke (Fairbanks) and Joe Schmitz (Alaska).

Four other goalies were named to All-Division teams, including: Jacob Meyers (Central Division, Alexandria Blizzard), Tony Kujava (Midwest Division, Janesville Jets) and Connor Hellebuyck (South Division, Odessa Jackalopes).

Wednesday's selection to the All-Division West team was Nichols' second honor this week after he was named to the All-Rookie 2nd team Tuesday.

A UConn recruit, Nichols owned a 24-6-4 record in 2011-12. He set new NAHL single-season records in goals-against average (1.49) and shutouts (10).

The NAHL named Nichols goalie of the month in January and March. He went 4-2 with three shutouts in January with a goals-against average of 1.18 and a save percentage of .949. He went 5-1-1 in March with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.12 and a save percentage of .942.

Nichols was honored as one of the NAHL's three starts of the week on four occasions in 2011-12: March 12 (second star), Feb. 27 (third star), Jan. 17 (first star), Sept. 27 (third star).
