Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings News Release


Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Jr. K-Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announce that forward Drew Graves and defenseman Anthony Appleyard have been named to the NAHL's All-Division Team representing the North Division.

After spending the last two seasons with the Motor City Metal Jackets (NAHL), Graves had a breakout year with Kalamazoo. He lead the team in goals (27), assists (32) and points (59). He also added six points (4 goals, 2 assists) during eight playoff games, including a memorable game winner in overtime of game four during the North Divisional Semifinals to lead Kalamazoo to a 3-1 series victory over Traverse City. Graves, the twenty year old Detroit native, was also named Combat Hockey's First Star of the Week during that ended on January 22nd.

Appleyard, The Indian Head Park, Illinois native was one of four Jr.

K-Wings who appeared in 60 games during the regular season. He lead all Kalamazoo Defensemen with 30 points (9 goals, 21 assists), while he also lead the entire North Division with his +32 rating. His best single game performance came on December 18th against the Michigan Warriors, when he posted two goals, one assist and was a +6. He was also named to the NAHL's All Rookie First Team. The nineteen year old skated in eight games during the postseason and raked up an assist during Kalamazoo's North Divisional Final run.

Joining Graves and Appleyard on the North's All-Division team were forwards Sean Murphy (Traverse City), Ian Miller (Port Huron), defenseman Nolan Valleau (Port Huron) and goalie Kyle Laslo (Traverse City).
