ODESSA, TX. : Following a historic move that brought stability to indoor football back on July 22, 2008, in which the United Indoor Football League and the Intense Football League announced their plans to create a partnership for 2009, today on Friday, August 1st, both organizations made larger steps in creating a league name and logo. A special press conference was held from Sioux Falls, South Dakota with the league board members announcing that the new league name will be the Indoor Football League.

Along with the announcement of the new league name is also the presentation of the new league logo. As seen above the logo consists of the league name and an eagle portrayed behind the IFL letters. Following the press conference representatives on the coaches board, including Roughnecks Head Coach Chris Williams, will meet to discuss league rules and regulations for the newly established IFL.

"Today has been just an exciting time for indoor football." said Odessa Roughnecks Team President and Owner Tommy Benizio. "Now with having the development of the league name and logo we can move on with further preparation and we all know that this partnership will lead to bigger and better things."

Both the United Indoor Football League and the Intense Football League will conclude their fourth season of play as they will have a joint championship game on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008. The Sioux Falls Storm will host the back-to-back IFL champion Louisiana Swashbucklers. Sioux Falls has won all four UIF Championships and at one point had won 40 consecutive games from 2005 up until early 2008.
