Knoxville Smokies News Release
Sevierville, TN. - The Tennessee Smokies, the Double A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, are pleased to announce a new promotion in partnership with Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. Starting June 12th, all babies that are born at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center will receive their first baseball before their parents take them home. The staff at Fort Sanders Sevier will present each family with a pink (girl) or light blue (boy) ball before they leave the hospital. The ball can be used as a record of the baby's birth, with the design of the ball featuring areas to write in the baby's name, birthdate, weight and length on the ball so it can be proudly displayed.
"We are excited to have this unique opportunity to work with the Tennessee Smokies," said Ellen Wilhoit, the President and Chief Administrative Officer of Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. "We believe that every baby born in our Women's Center is special, and we hope that this gift will be something for the families to cherish for years to come"
"We are extremely happy that Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center was open to partnering with us on this idea" explained Smokies General Manager Brian Cox. "The baby baseball gives each family an item to commemorate one of the biggest moments in their lives. Plus, the babies born in Sevier County today are Smokies fans of the future."
Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center and the Smokies have been partners since the 2000 season when the team moved to Sevierville.
