New York Red Bulls II (11-7-5, 41 pts.) defeat Columbus Crew 2 (12-6-3, 42 pts.) 5-0, at Historic Crew Stadium on Sunday night.
New York opened the scoring in the ninth minute, when Wiki Carmona notched his fifth goal of the season thanks to a feed from Frank Ssebufu.
Ssebufu managed to grab a goal of his own in the fifth minute, when a saved shot from Ronald Donkor rolled across an open goal mouth for the Ugandan striker to double the lead.
New York continued their barrage of goals in the 61st minute, when defender Matt Nocita headed a loose ball home for the three-goal advantage.
Just three minutes later, Ibrahim Kasule added to the tally with a goal of his own off a beautiful feed from Omar Valencia.
The last goal of the match would also come from New York, this time from Mohammed Sofo who found a loose ball courtesy of Matt Nocita and smashed it into the back of the net.
The goal from Carmona was his fifth of the year in just his seventh match played this season.
Ssebufu's assist on the Carmona goal was his second of the season, with his first coming on May 14th against New York City FC II.
Ssebufu scored his sixth goal of the season, putting him into second in the club for the 2023 season.
Nocita's goal was his first of the season and the first of his professional career.
The goal from Kasule was his club leading 11th of the season, all of which coming within the past 13 matches.
Valencia's assist was his first of the season and the second of his career with New York Red Bulls II.
Sofo's goal was his first of the season in his eighth appearance on the year.
The assist from Nocita was the first of his professional career.
Ibrahim Kasule became the first player to score eleven goals in a season since 2019, when Jared Stroud, Tom Barlow, and Mathias Jørgensen all hit that mark for New York Red Bulls II.
New York's 5-0 victory marked the first time that Red Bulls II have won by five or more goals since September 6th of 2020, in a 6-0 victory against Philadelphia Union II.
Red Bulls II had five different goal scorers in a match for the first time since July 26, 2020 against Philadelphia Union II.
New York posted their eighth clean sheet of the season, putting them into a tie for second in MLS NEXT Pro for the most this season.
Defender O'Vonte Mullings made his 50th career appearance with New York Red Bulls II.
