New York Red Bulls II News Release
New York Red Bulls II (5-3-3, 20 pts.) fall to Orlando City B (6-3-2, 21 pts.) by a score of 3-2 at Osceola Heritage Park.
Orlando took the lead in the fifth minute, after a Jack Lynn header caused a loose ball and eventual own goal by Dija.
New York struck back to level the match in the 31st minute, when a fantastic run and pass by O'Vonte Mullings found Ibrahim Kasule for the finish.
In the 45th minute, Ricardo Gorday curled a free kick into the near post from a sharp angle to beat the Orlando Keeper and give New York the lead.
Jack Lynn capitalized off a mistake by goalkeeper Alan Rutkowski and leveled the match in the 61st minute.
Three minutes later, another Orlando attack led to Shakur Mohammed finding the back of the net to take the lead in the match.
Kasule's was his second of the season, with his first coming just four days ago against Huntsville.
The assist on Kasule's goal by Mullings was his first of the season and the sixth of his career with New York.
Gorday's goal was his third of the season, tying him with Wiki Carmona for the club high in 2023.
Goalkeeper Alan Rutkowski made nine saves in the contest, which ties him for third most in a single match in club history.
Academy product Aiden Jarvis made his first professional start in his third appearance overall this season.
New York return home to face New England Revolution II on Sunday, June 3. Kickoff at MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. ET. Coverage will be on MLS Season Pass with Apple TV, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
