New York Liberty News Release
NEW YORK, NY, MARCH 9 - The New York Liberty announced today the upcoming 2004 telecast schedule. MSG Networks will produce nine New York Liberty telecasts with one national game on ESPN2. Five games will air on MSG Network (MSG), one on FOX Sports Net (FSN) and three on MetroTV.
For eight years of the team's exciting history, the Liberty has called MSG Networks its television home. The team is sure to add to that history this summer as All-Star guard Becky Hammon and 'Ms. Consistency' Vickie Johnson return to anchor this year's team.
MSG's Liberty telecast schedule tips off with a home game against Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Comets on May 23rd at 4:00 PM. FSN will broadcast its only Liberty game on July 6th as New York hosts the Sacramento Monarchs for a 7:30 match up. The one national broadcast game on ESPN2 is scheduled for July 8th at 8:00 PM against the Washington Mystics from Madison Square Garden.
Announcer Gus Johnson will return to the booth this year to handle play-by-play duties along with Doris Burke.
The New York Liberty basketball team, in its eighth year of operation with the 200 season, is part of the Madison Square Garden, L.P. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in the MSG L.P., which also include the New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Rangers (NHL), the Hartford Wolfpack (American Hockey League), the MSG Network, Fox Sports New York and the Madison Square Garden arena complex, located in the heart of the New York metropolitan area.
