
New York Battles Rival D.C. United in Second Round for Atlantic Cup

HARRISON, N.J. -The New York Red Bulls (6-10-4, 22 points) battle rivals D.C. United (9-10-3, 30 points) in the second round of the Atlantic Cup on Saturday, September 11. Kickoff at Red Bull Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
Coverage on MSG begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with the Red Bulls Pregame show. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Shep Messing and Michelle Gingras.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6 p.m. EST with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m. EST.
This will be the second meeting of the season between New York and D.C., and it will be the 83rd regular season meeting of all-time. D.C. United were on a three-match losing streak until they defeated Philadelphia Union, 3-1, on Saturday, August 28. When playing against D.C. United at home, New York holds a 17-14-8 advantage.
On August 8 against Chicago Fire FC, defender John Tolkin made his first appearance in the midfield for the club. Since that match, Tolkin scored his first professional goal against Columbus Crew on August 18. In that timespan, Tolkin has recorded eight chances created, which is tied for first in the club. He has also accumulated the most passes (172) since moving into the midfield.
Following Saturday's match, New York will embark on a two-match road trip, beginning with Columbus Crew on Tuesday, September 14. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on MSG and MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
