New Years Eve Spectacular Features Finals Rematch
December 30, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Presidents' Cup Champion Allen Americans face the Wichita Thunder to close out 2013, in a rematch of last year's Central Hockey League Finals.
The Allen Americans return nine players from last year's CHL Finals roster, including recent returnee, forward Brian McMillin. McMillin played in his first game on Saturday night in the Americans 7-4 win over Tulsa, scoring a goal and adding an assist.
The Americans have now won two in a row and have scored 12 goals in their last two games. Tyler Ludwig had a hat trick on Saturday night for Allen, joining Johnathan Lessard and Alex Lavoie in that category this season.
Mark Guggenberger has started the last two games in net for Allen, winning both. He has a record this season of 3-4-1 with a 3.47 goals against average.
"I think we're getting closer," said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. "A lot of positives to come out of the last few, but were not there just yet. I like our team. I think we have a group that can beat any team in the league but we have to back it up."
The Thunder have been struggling this season, sitting in eighth place overall in the league with a record of 11-14-4. The Americans are 1-0-1 against Wichita this season, dropping the only game at home against the Thunder 4-3 in a shootout back in October.
Wichita is led by forward Jon Booras, who has 12 goals and 36 points in 29 games. Former Allen net minder, David Brown, is the backup in Wichita behind starter Taylor Nelson. Brown, in 7 games, has a record of 3-4-0 with an .878 goals against average.
Tickets for Tuesday night's game are on sale NOW at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (972) 912-1000 for more information.
