VooDoo QB John Fitzgerald finished the game 15-of-22 for 211 yards and tied a career-high with six touchdown passes. His six touchdown passes earned him player of the game honors. Carolina QB Matt Nagy threw for 229 yards, completing 24-of-44 attempts with 3 touchdowns. OS Todd Doxson was Nagy's primary beneficiary, catching 10 balls for 111 yards and a touchdown.

The VooDoo's second-ranked scoring defense continued to impress as they held the Cobras to only 31 points, lowering their average points allowed on the season to 40.7 per game.

The VooDoo are now one win shy of tying the New Jersey Red Dogs for the best start ever by an expansion franchise, who started the 1997 season at 8-1.
