
New Jersey sweep Can-Am awards

DURHAM, NC-- INF John Lindsey and LHP Isaac Pavlik of the New Jersey Jackals were selected by Sportsticker, the Can-Am League's official statistician, as Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 26-July 2.
For the week, Lindsey had a batting average of .370 (10-for-27) with 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 doubles, and a tremendous slugging percentage of .852. This past Sunday in a 7-2 victory over the Sussex Skyhawks, Lindsey went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, include hitting his 6th home run of the season. For the season, he is currently tied for first with teammate 1B Bill Peavey with 6 home runs, tied for second in the Can-Am with 13 doubles, first with a .591 slugging percentage and tied for first with 19 extra base hits.
The 29-year old native of Hattiesburg, MS was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 13th round of the 1995 draft. He spent seven seasons with the Rockies organization playing for the Rockies AZL, Portland, Asheville, and Salem. Lindsey also played for San Bernardino, San Antonio, and Jupiter in the Florida Marlins farm system. Last season in splitting time with New Jersey and Jupiter of the Florida State League, he had a batting average of .270 with 10 HR and 78 RBI.
Pavlik, the 26-year old native of Rutherford, NJ, was simply tremendous in a 10-0 victory in game two of a doubleheader against the Sussex Skyhawks this past Saturday. He went the full seven innings allowing no runs on only four hits with seven strikeouts. On the season, Pavlik is 4-1 with a 2.41 ERA with 46 strikeouts, which currently is good for a first place tie in the league.
Pavlik was a 10th round selection of the Colorado Rockies in the 2002 draft out of Seton Hall University. He pitched in 2002, 2003 and part of 2004 in the Colorado farm system playing for Tri-City, and Visalia. Last season for the Jackals, he compiled a record of 7-5 with a 3.09 ERA and collected 100 strikeouts, which was second best in the league.
