Atlantic City Surf News Release

Atlantic City, N.J. - The Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am League have announced the signing of righthanded pitcher Jim Wladyka.

Wladyka (WAH-da-kah) begins his second stint with the Surf. In 2007, the native of Belleville, N.J., pitched one game with Atlantic City before being signed by the Kansas City Royals' organization. He was assigned to Single-A Burlington of the Midwest League, where he went 0-1 with two saves and a 5.96 ERA in 17 appearances.

Previously, the 24-year-old had spent two seasons in the New York Mets' organization, reaching as high as Single-A. As a rookie, Wladyka put together a 1.98 ERA to go along with a 2-2 record for Kingsport of the Appalachian League in 2005.

Wladyka was signed by the Mets as an undrafted free agent out of St. John's University, where he was 7-3 with a 3.20 ERA as a senior in the spring of 2005.
