New Groundskeeper Brings Experience

The Beloit Snappers have a new groundskeeper for the upcoming season. Blake Bostelman will be in charge of maintaining beautiful Pohlman Field in 2007. Originally from Grand Island, Nebraska, Blake has extensive experience in baseball. His work history includes Turf Grass Internships for both the Milwaukee Brewers and the Lincoln Saltdogs in Nebraska as well as a member of the Riverside Country Club Grounds Crew in Grand Island.

"Blake's past experience will go a long way in helping to maintain our field this season", said General Manager Jeff Vohs. "I am very confident that he will bring his expertise and insights to the table and help keep Pohlman Field looking great all year long."

Aside from his work experience Blake is also a member of the Sports Turf Managers Association, volunteered as a youth baseball coach in Grand Island, and is certified as a pesticide applicator of turf and ornamentals in both Nebraska and Wisconsin. Blake has a pair of degrees from the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture with a major in Horticulture Systems and a minor in Sports Turf Management and from Northeast Community College in Norfolk Nebraska with a major in Horticulture Systems.

In 71 days former Chicago Cub and new Peoria Chiefs' manager, Ryne Sandberg, is coming to Beloit! Sandberg and the Chiefs will take on the Snappers on May 19-20 and again June 21-24. Tickets are going fast!

Thursday, April 5th is our Home Opener. Come check out the Snappers as they host the Cedar Rapids Kernels at 6:30 pm. Season tickets, group outings, and individual game tickets for the 2007 season are now available!
