New England Revolution II News Release
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - New England Revolution II (8-5-4; 32 pts.; 3rd in East) travels to Fort Lauderdale to take on Inter Miami II (4-10-2; 14 pts.; 13th in East) at DRV PNK Stadium on Sunday evening. The match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET and streams live on MLSNEXTPro.com with Sean Saint Jacques calling the action.
Revolution II registered a 0-0 draw, tallying an additional point via shootout victory, against Huntsville SC on Sunday. New England logged its fourth shutout performance of the 2023 campaign, and its fourth shootout win. Revolution goalkeeper Jacob Jackson recorded the start in net and highlighted the defensive performance with an eight-save effort en route to the clean sheet. The 23-year-old has tallied 33 saves over six appearances this season. Marcos Dias, Jacob Akanyirige, Jake Rozhansky, Jordan Adebayo-Smith, and Brandonn Bueno all tallied in the penalty kick shootout to secure the two additional point for New England.
"It was a difficult match," Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay said postgame. "[Huntsville FC] are a good team, but I thought that we had a slow start to the first half, were a little bit timid in our approach and allowed them to gain confidence. And so, we had a good conversation at halftime, and I felt the effort in the second half was much better played in their end for most of the half, created some decent chances and probably lucky to get out of there with two points, but at the end of the day, they persevered and were resilient and found a way to kind of manage the game."
New England matches up against Inter Miami II for the second this season, as the two sides previously met on May 28 at Gillette Stadium in a 1-0 Revolution II victory. Jackson recorded the shutout win with a two-save outing, while defender Pierre Cayet accounted for New England's scoring with the game-winning tally. Revolution II has logged five victories over seven games played in its all-time series against Inter Miami II, dating back to the 2020 season when both teams competed in USL League One.
