New England Revolution II News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II (9-5-4; 35 pts.; 2nd in East) returns to Gillette Stadium to host Crown Legacy FC (12-2-3; 41 pts.; 1st in East) on Wednesday morning. The 11:00 a.m. ET match between the Eastern Conference's top two teams streams live on MLS Season Pass with Daniel Waugh calling the action.
Revolution II shut out Inter Miami CF II on Sunday with goals from Homegrown defender/midfielder Peyton Miller and forward Malcolm Fry. At 15 years and 243 days old, Miller became the youngest goal scorer in Revolution II history with his 51st minute game-winner. Forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith recorded assists on both goals. Goalkeeper Jacob Jackson made seven saves en route to his team-leading third shutout of 2023. Sunday's match also featured forward Olger Escobar's first professional start. The Malden, Mass. native and U-17 MLS NEXT MVP recorded three shots with one on target over 71 minutes.
"I thought [Escobar] played very well. He's a talented player, did really well to create good positive attacking moments off the dribble," Head Coach Clint Peay said of Escobar postgame. "Maybe unlucky again not to score but did really well in possession. He did what we asked of him defensively and I thought it was a good initial start for a guy in one of his first professional games."
Wednesday marks the first meeting between New England and Charlotte as both sides stand at the top of the table in the Eastern Conference. Revolution II is unbeaten in their last three matches, while Crown Legacy is unbeaten in their last five. Both teams also feature the league's top two attacks, with New England's 35 goals scored ranking third in MLS NEXT Pro while Charlotte's 37 tallies rank second. Following Wednesday's contest, Revolution II will embark on its first bye week of the 2023 campaign.
