FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution II (7-4-1-; 23 pts.; 2nd in East) will host Chicago Fire II (3-5-3; 12 pts.; 10th in East) on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 8:00 p.m. ET and streams live on MLSNEXTPRO.com.
Revolution II are coming off their first league loss in over a month after Sunday's 4-1 result to New York Red Bulls II. Homegrown midfielder Jack Panayotou scored his first goal for Revolution II this season netting a cross on forward Malcolm Fry's assist. The seventh-minute tally marks Revolution II's quickest goal of the season so far.Fry registered his second assist of the year and played 66 minutes in the matchto surpass 1,000 minutes playedin his career with New England's second team. Revolution goalkeeper Jacob Jackson made a career-high 12 saves in the match and has started each of the last two games in net for Revolution II.
"[Jackson] is a good shot stopper," Revolution coach Clint Peay said. "There are areas of his game that can still improve, and I think that's with the ball at his feet and decision making, but in terms of being able to make stops, he does an excellent job."
Revolution II remain one of the most in-form offenses in MLS NEXT Pro this season. Leading the league in goals scored with 28 tallies. New England also ranks third in assists this season (17) with the team's leaders, midfielder Jake Rozhansky and Homegrown midfielder Damian Rivera, each owning three helpers. Rozhansky's 91.6% passing accuracy rate also ranks among the top in MLS NEXT Pro this season, as the midfielder stands at fifth-best amongst players who have played 10 or more games.
Sunday's match against Chicago Fire II marks the first time the two sides will meet this season with New England winning their last matchup on August 15, 2022, 1-0. Revolution II continues to be one of the most dominant teams at home this season with a 4-1-1 record at Gillette Stadium.
