Net Set, Cacciola Returns To Brahmas

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (September 18)-The first signee of 2007-08, goaltender David Cacciola, will return for his second season in net for the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) for the 2008-09 campaign.
Expectations are high for Cacciola, 26, after setting the Brahmas team record in goals against last season with 118 in the regular season. Another remarkable note was his strong play in the postseason against his former team, Bossier-Shreveport, as he led the way in a 4-0 sweep to make it to the Northern Conference Finals, having won all four contests in that series.
In 42 games played last season, the Burlington, MA native made 1,185 saves and finished with a 26-15-1 record and 2.94 GAA. With his 26 wins last season, Cacciola ranked second in the league, only one victory short of finishing first overall. In the playoffs, the twice named CHL Goaltender of the Week, posted a .929 save percentage, the third best in the league.
Cacciola returns to the CHL for his fourth year of professional hockey. Prior to joining the Brahmas, Cacciola spent his rookie season with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in 2005-06. As a Mudbug he went 18-5-4 with a .926 save percentage. Following his stint in the Northeast division, Cacciola went to New Mexico for the 2006-07 season where he posted a 21-5-3 record.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong has confidence that Cacciola will continue to be a pivotal player for the organization.
"It's great to have Cacciola return in goal for us this season. He did some unbelievable things for us last year in the regular season and the playoffs. We're looking forward to what he will bring to us this year," said Wildfong.
Cacciola will join Brett Jaeger in net for the Brahmas for the 2008-09 season. Last year the goaltending duo put up a 39-21-2 combined record in the regular season and marched the Brahmas to the Northern Conference Finals.
