NEL Honors Agramonte, Harden

North Shore second baseman Marcos Agramonte and Berkshire right-hander Tony Harden have been named the Daktronics Northeast League Players of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Aug. 17.

After starting the week 2-for-9, Agramonte went 5-for-5 versus New Jersey on Aug. 13 and 4-for-7 and hit for the cycle at Elmira on Aug. 17. The 22-year-old went 14-for-30 (.467) in six games last week with eight runs, three doubles, two triples, one home run, eight RBIs, an .800 slugging percentage, a .484 on-base percentage and one stolen base.

This is the second Daktronics Northeast League Player of the Week honor for Agramonte. He also won the award on July 13.

Harden, 27, pitched a two-hit shutout versus Bangor on Aug. 14, allowing two walks and striking out six batters. The win broke a three-start losing skid for Harden.

Harden, a graduate of Indiana State University, pitched four seasons in the independent Frontier League beginning in 1998, a year in which he lead the league in earned run average and went 10-1. He pitched for Yuba-Sutter of the independent Western League in 2002 and compiled a 31-27 record with a 3.93 earned run average in 496 1/3 innings in independent baseball prior to 2003.
