SANFORD, Maine - New England Collegiate Baseball League Commissioner, Sean McGrath, has released the league's 2021 schedule. Sanford will open the season at home on Friday, June 4th against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats.
After the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 27th season of the NECBL will begin its 42-game regular season on Thursday, June 3rd.
In 2021, the NECBL will play an exclusively divisional schedule, with the Mainers only facing their Northern Division rivals Keene, North Adams, North Shore, Upper Valley, Vermont and Winnipesaukee.
The Mainers will welcome a new, but familiar foe to the division, as the North Shore Navigators return to the league after their departure in 2011. Sanford's first tilt against the Navigators at Goodall Park will be Wednesday, June 16th.
The defending NECBL champions Keene Swamp Bats will look to defend their title in 2021, and will meet the Mainers on Saturday, June 5th in New Hampshire, before playing again the next day on Sunday, June 6th for the first Sunday matinee of the year at 4:30 p.m.
The Moose will also host the North Adams SteepleCats for a prescheduled doubleheader on Friday, July 2nd with game one beginning at 4:00 p.m.
The 2021 NECBL All-Star Game will be played at Newport's Cardines Field on Sunday, July 18th.
The final day of the regular season is Sunday, August 1st, with the following day open for makeup games. Tuesday, August 3rd will be the first day of the 2021 NECBL postseason, with a format to be announced at a later date.
All 2021 Sanford Mainers home games will be played at Goodall Park with home games beginning at 6:30 p.m., except for 4:30 p.m. starts on Sunday home games. For more information regarding the season schedule, season tickets, roster information, and more, please visit sanfordmainers.com.
