Nebraska Danger News Release

The Nebraska Danger continue their three-game home stand this Saturday night with a game against the Texas Revolution. Kickoff is slated for 7 PM at the Heartland Events Center and the game is presented by Iris Photography Studios.

The Danger (1-1) bounced back from a season opening loss to Sioux Falls with a dominating 43-19 win over the expansion Bemidji Axemen last week. Playing without reigning league MVP Jameel Sewell, who suffered an injury to the mid-section early the second quarter of the Sioux Falls game, the Danger relied on new quarterback Cody Kirby and a record setting performance from the Danger defense.

"I was happy with how we responded after getting beat by Sioux Falls," Danger coach Mike Davis said. "We need to keep the momentum moving forward this week. We still have a long way to go this season and our focus will be getting better each week."

Kirby, the IFL offensive rookie-of-the-year last season at Chicago, earned league player-of-the-week honors for his performance on Saturday where he passed for 206 yards and ran for 73 yards on 19 carries. He threw four touchdowns passes as well.

More important, however, was the showing of the Danger defense which set a franchise record for fewest points allowed in a game. Pig Brown and Ramon Broadway led the defense with eight and seven tackles, respectively, as the defense allowed just 13 points and Brown recorded a safety when he tackled Bemidji quarterback Hunter Wanket in the end zone. The other score for Bemidji came on a kickoff return in the second half.

"I think we got better from the first week on defense," Davis said. "We'll get a good test from Texas this week. We expect it to be a good battle; they looked really good in defeating Cedar Rapids the first week of the season."

Davis said that Sewell will be available this week as would all-league wide receiver Kayne Farquharson who also sat out last week after suffering a hamstring injury against Sioux Falls. The Revs (1-0) got 204 yards passing and five touchdowns from quarterback Jimmy Coy in their season opening 47-38 win over Cedar Rapids.

Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Saturday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30.

Tickets for Saturday night are available at area Pump & Pantry stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office, or via Ticketmaster. Theme for the night is Blackout Night. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1, or streamed live at www.2dayfm1031.com

Following the game, an autograph party with Players and Coaches will take place on the Danger turf.
