Macon Knights News Release

MACON, Ga. – The New Orleans VooDoo of the Arena Football League announced they have signed former Macon Knights wide receiver/defensive back Tremaine Neal. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Neal (6-3, 215, Valdosta State) helped the Knights to back-to-back playoff appearances during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. He was named the MVP and Ironman of the Game in the Knights American Conference Championship victory over Tennessee Valley (8/14/03).

In 37 games with the Knights, Neal caught 100 passes for 1,077 yards and 17 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 128 tackles (106 unassisted), 4 interceptions, 12 pass breakups, 1 fumble recovery and 4 forced fumbles.

Neal became one of the leading receivers for the Knights during the 2003 season after spending 2002 as a role player. His numbers increased from 23 receptions to 77 receptions and 288 receiving yards to 789 receiving yards, respectively during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.

Neal was a member of the 2003 Georgia Force of the AFL. He was on the practice squad before being released in March.

Neal will play his true position with the VooDoo as a wide receiver/linebacker. He played wide receiver/defensive back during his tenure with the Knights.

Neal will rejoin former Macon Knights head coach Kevin Porter and FB/LB Byron Douzart in New Orleans. Porter resigned from the Knights in September to become the defensive coordinator for the VooDoo. Douzart signed with the VooDoo on October 23rd.

The Macon Knights – 2003 American Conference Champions – will begin their fourth season of play next spring and are looking to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. Season tickets are on sale now. For more information, or to purchase season tickets, call the Knights office at (478) 314-3000 or visit www.maconknights.com.
