NCFC Secures Thorn Simpson on Loan from Molynes United FC

Cary, NC - North Carolina FC has secured forward Thorn Simpson on loan from the Jamaican Red Stripe Premier League's Molynes United FC, the club announced today. The deal is pending visa, league and federation approval, and will last the duration of the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Simpson led UWI FC scoring with 10 goals in 2019-20. The 22-year-old attacker joined Molynes in the fall of 2020 after spending the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season playing for the University of the West Indies Football Club. He will wear #44 for NCFC.

"Thorn is a talented young player that has impressed while here with the club since the start of our preseason," NCFC Head Coach John Bradford said. "He has great size and athleticism and will give our opponents problems on both sides of the ball. He's a proven goal scorer in his home country of Jamaica and has done well to score goals here in our preseason. We're excited to play a role in Thorn's development, as we feel he has the potential to improve and move on to a higher stage in the future. Special thanks to the leadership of Molynes United FC, who have been great to work with."

North Carolina FC continues its 2021 campaign on Saturday, May 15, on the road against Forward Madison FC.
