North Carolina Courage News Release
CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina Courage announced today that agreements were reached on contracts with Leah Pruitt, Hailey Harbison, and Lauren Milliet. Per club policy, no further details of the transactions were disclosed.
Pruitt, Harbison, and Milliet were all drafted by the North Carolina Courage in the 2019 NWSL Draft on January 9 in Chicago. The three have been training with the team during the preseason. Pruitt will be added to the senior roster while Harbison and Milliet will be added to the supplemental roster.
Pruitt was drafted 5th overall in the 2019 NWSL Draft. The forward started her college career at San Diego State where she played 18 games and scored ten goals. Pruitt then transferred to the University of Southern California where she had a stellar college career playing 63 games in her three years at USC. She recorded 22 goals and 21 assists during her career as a Trojan. Pruitt recorded an assist in the NC Courage's preseason game against the Orlando Pride on March 23.
"Leah has been tremendous in preseason and she fits our attacking profile," said NC Courage head coach Paul Riley. "I love her ability to make her own chances and provide opportunities for others. She offers a fast, physical, intelligent option to our deep attacking group. Make no mistake, she will make a massive impact this season on the NWSL."
Harbison was also selected in the first round of the NWSL Draft as the 9th pick. Harbison attended Pepperdine University where she played one year with NC Courage forward, Lynn Williams. In four years, the defender started and played 80 games. She scored three goals and had seven assists in that time. She earned All-West Region Honors all four years.
"Hailey has settled in and is already maturing into a very good professional," Riley continued. "Smart, positionally sound and a fabulous attacking skill set makes her a perfect fit for our system and style. Her super athletic frame makes her a future NWSL standout."
Milliet, a midfielder out of Colorado College, was selected 14th overall in the second round of the NWSL Draft. She started and played 77 games during her four-year career. As an attacking midfielder, Milliet got off 205 shots in four seasons resulting in 21 goals scored. She also added 16 career assists. Milliet played a total of 6783 minutes in her college career.
"Lauren typifies our midfield: clever, articulate, vision, skill and a desire to play both sides of the ball," Riley said. "She will revel in this environment where she can express her undoubted talent and learn from some of the top midfielders in the world. I am excited to see where she can go."
