The goal was Williams' sixth of the season, while the assist was Debinha's third of the season.
Seven minutes after the Courage scored, the Red Stars answered with a goal. Arin Wright sent a cross in that connected with Vanessa DiBernardo. The teams entered halftime tied 1-1.
Chicago's Sam Kerr broke lose in the 58th minute for what ended up being the game-winning goal. Kerr received a through ball that set her up with the opportunity to score.
Kristen Hamilton gave the Courage a burst of energy after coming in as a second-half substitution. In the 82nd minute, Hamilton was slipped the ball in the box and she gave a powerful strike that squarely hit the post. After that chance, the NC Courage could not find an equalizing goal.
