CHICAGO - The North Carolina Courage (6W-3L-4D) fell 2-1 to the Chicago Red Stars in front of a crowd of 17,388 in SeatGeek Stadium tonight. Lynn Williams scored the first goal of the match before Chicago scored two consecutive goals to clinch the three points.

Chicago goalkeeper, Alyssa Naeher, made two great early saves but could not stop Williams. Debinha sent a curling ball into the box that found the feet of Williams whose speed gave her a one-on-one chance with Naeher. Williams calmly put the ball in the corner of the net for the first goal of the match.

The goal was Williams' sixth of the season, while the assist was Debinha's third of the season.

Seven minutes after the Courage scored, the Red Stars answered with a goal. Arin Wright sent a cross in that connected with Vanessa DiBernardo. The teams entered halftime tied 1-1.

Chicago's Sam Kerr broke lose in the 58th minute for what ended up being the game-winning goal. Kerr received a through ball that set her up with the opportunity to score.

Kristen Hamilton gave the Courage a burst of energy after coming in as a second-half substitution. In the 82nd minute, Hamilton was slipped the ball in the box and she gave a powerful strike that squarely hit the post. After that chance, the NC Courage could not find an equalizing goal.
