North Carolina Courage News Release

Cary, NC - The North Carolina Courage will face the Orlando Pride for one final match of 2020 on Saturday, October 17 at 4 p.m. on CBS. The match is the team's ninth of the year and fourth of the NWSL Fall Series. The team could secure third place in the Verizon Community Shield with a win of three or more goals.

The Courage have an overall record in 2020 of 5W-2L-1D. The team's Fall Series record is 1W-1L-1D. Paul Riley's team last played on October 4 against the Houston Dash. Lynn Williams scored the Courage's only goal in the team's 4-1 loss. Williams has scored two goals in the Fall Series and she also has one assist.

Seven players have made their NC Courage debut during the Fall Series with four of the group also making their NWSL debut. Rylee Baisden leads this group of players in minutes, having played 277 in three games. Peyton Perea follows her up with 250 minutes in three matches.

The Courage and Pride faced off on September 19 at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in a match that ended in a 0-0 draw. Stephanie Labbé recorded the clean sheet with two saves. Orlando's goalkeeper, Ashlyn Harris, made the NWSL Save of the Week against Williams in the match to keep the Courage out of the net.

During the bye week, the NC Courage faced the Washington Spirit in a closed-door scrimmage. The Courage scored four goals in the match to win 4-3. Debinha and Addisyn Merrick scored one goal each. Williams scored two goals, including the game-winner in the final minutes of the scrimmage.

Players to Watch Presented by Aetna:

NC Courage- #13 Ryan Williams

Williams has been a common factor on the right-hand side of the Courage defense and attack during the Fall Series. Against the Houston Dash, Williams assisted the team's only goal. With 264 Fall Series minutes already played, it is likely that Williams will have time to impact the game as the Courage hope to win by at least three goals to earn third place in the Verizon Community Shield.

Orlando Pride- #2 Sydney Leroux

Leroux has made her return to the soccer field during the NWSL Fall Series where she has played every minute of two games. Four of her six shots have been on target, and in Orlando's last match, she scored one goal. With the Courage trying to keep Orlando off the score sheet, the defense will have to mark #2.
