NBA Legends to Attend Rays - Mudcats Game

Orlando, FL - Pro basketball Hall of Fame members Alex English, Nate "Tiny" Archibald and David Thompson along with several other prominent pro and college basketball legends scheduled to be in attendance at Saturday's Orlando Rays - Mobile BayBears Southern League baseball game.

English, a 16-year pro basketball veteran was an eight-time All-Star with the Denver Nuggets and averaged 21.5 points per game over his career. Archibald played for seven NBA teams in his 14-year career, winning an NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics in 1981. Thompson's nine-year career in the pros was littered with honors and awards, including ABA Rookie of the Year (1976) honors, and he was also the only player ever to be named an ABA and NBA All-Star Game MVP.

English, Archibald and Thompson will be joined at the game by pro and collegiate legends Otis Birdsong, Artis Gilmore, Jo Jo White and Bobby Jones. Jo Jo White is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and fans will have the opportunity to meet the players and get autographs from the heroes of the hard courts. The group is in Orlando in conjunction with their Sports Legends Fantasy Camp.

The game will start at 7:05 p.m. and will feature the Orlando Rays spectacular post-game fireworks show. In addition the first 1,000 children ages 14 and under will receive a free batting helmet. Ticket prices are $8 for lower-level reserved seating and $5 for bleacher and general admission seating, and parking is free at Disney's Wide World of Sports® complex. Tickets can be purchased at the Wide World of Sports® box office.
