HERE'S TO YOU, MR. ROBINSON: Santa Cruz Warriors guard Jerome Robinson has been named the NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 21 through Sunday, March 27. The Boston College product filled up the stat sheet with averages of 26.3 points, 7.7 assists, 6.3 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.7 blocks in the Warriors' 3-0 week.
Robinson punctuated his stellar week with 32 points in Santa Cruz's 116-112 March 26 win over the Austin Spurs.
PLAYOFF HUNT: With only a week left of regular-season games remaining before the postseason, several teams are vying for a spot in the playoffs.
In the Eastern Conference, Raptors 905, Capital City Go-Go, Delaware Blue Coats and Motor City Cruise have clinched playoff spots, while the Grand Rap- ids Gold and College Park Skyhawks are hoping to hold off the Long Island Nets, Westchester Knicks, Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Maine Celtics for the fi- nal two playoff spots. In the Western, playoff spots have been clinched by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Agua Caliente Clippers, South Bay Lakers and Texas Legends. The final two seeds are currently held by the Birmingham Squadron and Stockton Kings, with the Oklahoma City Blue, Memphis Hustle and Iowa Wolves still in contention.
San Antonio Spurs center Jakob Poeltl (Raptors 905, 2016-17) is cementing himself as one of the top defensive big men in the NBA. The ninth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft is averaging 1.8 blocks, tied for fourth in the league. Poeltl, who is averaging 13.5 points and 9.3 rebounds, is trying to help the Spurs advance to the 2022 NBA Play-In Tournament.
Toronto Raptors Two-Way guard Justin Champagnie posted career-high numbers with 45 points, 13 rebounds and seven three-pointers in the Raptors 905's 123-105 victory over the Wisconsin Herd on March 25.
Maine Celtics guard Chris Clemons nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer to push his team past the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 110-107 on March 27. Clemons finished the contest with 22 points and six assists.
Grand Rapids Gold center Petr Cornelie poured in a career-best 35 points while making a personal-high seven three-pointers in the Gold's 111-107 win over the Herd on March 27. Cornelie also grabbed 15 rebounds.
Santa Cruz Warriors guard Kendall Smith notched his first career triple-double in a 116-112 victory over the Austin Spurs on March 26. Smith tallied 17 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists.
